Hi, I have an Ultra-60 (2x400MHz CPUs, 2 GiB RAM, elite-3D graphics)
It is very likely that your graphic card would not work on OpenSolaris, as only XVR-100, XVR-300, & XVR-2500 are supported on Sparc platform.
and I'm keen to install OpenSolaris. There are three wrinkles: - the box only has a CDROM, not a DVDROM - my OBP is 3.31. That means that AI images won't work, right?
Yes, this is correct - at least 4.17 version is required with wanboot support. This capability can be determined on an existing system by executing the command # eeprom | grep network-boot-arguments If the network-boot-arguments parameter is set or if the following output is displayed network-boot-arguments: data not available. then the OBP can be used with the Automated Installer.
- I don't have any other Solaris boxen, so jumpstarting is tricky (impossible?) Can I do this? How?
It is not straightforward for now, since AI is the only supported way to install OpenSolaris on Sparc for the time being.
Thanks, Andrew PS: I'm happy to update the OBP to a newer revision, but I haven't found one. I guess 3.31 is the latest for this hardware.
This is correct - I have checked on sunsolve that newer version is not available. Thank you, Jan _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
