I've filed bugzilla bugs on these, but thought I'd mention it here:
I just tried to update my Ultra 20 running 2008.11 to the latest
opensolaris-dev release after having no issues doing so on a Ferrari 4000.
However, I unfortunately ran into major issues.
First, after upgrading, the new kernel will not boot; instead the kernel
hangs while "Configuring Devices":
+ If a network cable is attached, the system gets stuck at:
[ network/npiv_config default starting ]
+ If no network cable is attached, the system gets stuck at:
[ system/picl: default starting(platform information and control) ]
Bug in Nevada... fixed in 111 I believe.
So I thought I could simply default back to my last bootenv (the 2008.11
bootenv) but after doing so it's obvious that something has changed as
Firefox no longer works properly - anything involving bookmarks or
history just fails, and the URL bar no longer updates when clicking on
links.
I've tried changing to different versions of Firefox, but the issue
remains.
Needless to say, this makes Firefox rather useless; I've currently got
another system running Firefox adjacent to deal with this.
So:
1) Has anyone else seen this?
2) Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix either issue?
It's not permissions issues on Firefox's part, as it correctly shows
it's loaded
the plugins in my .mozilla directory when doing an "about:plugins."
At this point I wonder if my best move is to reinstall 2008.11 from CD...
Is this using your home directory? Does root have the same problem?
