Prior releases of Solaris required the Sun Trunking software and only worked
with specific ethernet drivers. With Opensolaris, there is a new network
driver framework (called GLDv3 or Nemo) that allows any driver that makes
use of the new framework to transparently support 802.3ad trunking (aka link
aggregration). A large number of the bundled drivers with Opensolaris
(though not all) utilize this framework, as well as a few third party
drivers. Pretty much any Sun box will work (with the temporary exception
of cassini -- ce -- cards, however I believe the old Sun trunking software
will still work with them). Others if they're using broadcom (using the
bge driver), nvidia (nge), or intel (e1000g) should work (though it's not an
exhaustive list).
