I think it would be really valuable to get this work into the repository, so that people running on SPARC platforms outside that of the "supported" could have a reasonable chance for running OpenSolaris on them. We hope some degree of SPARC support (mostly through automated install) will be ready for 2008.11 (November) or soon after, so it seems like good timing. I can't speak for any of the other OpenSolaris based distributions though.
