beadm/libbe does touch the menu.lst whenever you create a new
BE (it adds an entry for the new BE), but I don't recall anyone
else having reported an issue like this yet.

Can you look at what's in your grub menu.lst file to see if
there's any remnants of it there:

# cat /rpool/boot/grub/menu.lst
