I have strange issues in name resolving when I am using my wireless connection. I use WPA TKIP security on my wireless router at home. When I boot OpenSolaris 2008.05 (snv_91) and log into gnome, nwam connects me to my network. I verified this by doing 'pfexec dladm show-wifi' and ensured that my interface wpi0 got a IP address. Also I see DNS server entries in /etc/resolv.conf. I am able to ping the DNS servers. 'dig/nslookup network.com' returns proper results. However none of the other applications are able to resolve the name. 'ping network.com' immediately returns with "Unkown host". I assume that this is something to do with the nscd. Restarting just nscd doesn't help. 'dig/nslookup' applications use resolv.conf; hence are working fine. In-order to fix this, I have to restart nwam. Does anyone know what is happening? I can post more diagnostic information if needed.
PS: There is another problem that I am facing with nwam (restart) when using WPA. I will post about do a separate post about it.
