Hi all, I agree with John - I've got a Sun 24.1" LCD screen in work, and there's a huge difference in the fonts in firefox 2 vs. firefox 3 - the latter is basically unusable.
The application fonts in firefox 2 are much, much more crisp. In firefox 3 for me, the anti-aliasing appears to be a lot more blurry/muddy. Zooming in two both shows that there's significantly more anti-aliasing being applied for firefox 3. I'm running stock 2008.05, pkg image-updated to nv_90. I'm running compiz on an Nvidia NVS 280 graphics card (which needs the slightly older nv driver) I have full hinting enabled in appearance properties for GNOME. Both applications are loaded with the same font settings. - the only think I can think of tweaking now, are the pixel order options (which I'll try when I'm back in the office tomorrow) My screenshots at: http://mediacast.sun.com/users/timsf/ff2.png http://mediacast.sun.com/users/timsf/ff3.png It's more obvious when you zoom into the images above. (and I can still see the difference in those screenshots here on my iMac at home, which has a 17" LCD, running at 1440x900) cheers, tim _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
