option would let the user see and restore marked-deleted messages that

Is it better to provide Purge Deleted option irrespetive of option chosen
for 'Move deleted messages to your Trash mailbox instead of marking them as
deleted in the current mailbox.'? I would find it convinient and users
too are requesting for that.
No. This has been discussed on the list multiple times before. You
can't make assumptions about WHY messages are marked as deleted if you
are not the MUA handling the marking. And you can't be providing
inconsistent ways of deleting messages.
