Ok, I understand.
So, is it possible "in a perfect world" to have an option like Kmail
aggregate function ?

Hi,
it seems than the "Thread Sort" view sorts messages using the
first mail date of the thread. It would be more interesting that
it uses the last mail date...
Is is possible ?
No. The thread sort algorithms are defined in RFC 5256
(http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5256).
http://bugs.horde.org/ticket/3278
Not correct. #3278 describes how to improve the UI display of threads
- mainly, allowing collapsible threads. It does not involve changing
the algorithm behind thread sorting however.
The OP requested threads to be sorted by the most recent message
within a thread. That threading algorithm is not available as an IMAP
thread sorting program (neither REFERENCES nor ORDEREDSUBJECT allow
this kind of date sorting).
Isn't it the MUA's job to determine the order of PRESENTATION? The order
of retrieval is IMAP's province, not the display.
