You are not the first one to complain. That's particularly true using lists. As listmaster of thousands of lists at university, the default behaviour is to setup: reply to sender. We can also say: reply to list. But IMP is ignoring that, so we have two differents behaviour, IMP4 is OK and IMP5 is not following what is said in the headers. I just check the same email with the two versions. That could be annoying because sometimes you prefer to reply to the real sender, not to the list privately. If I forgot to copy the list, or reply to all, then I can send it back again. But if I don't see that IMP5 is replying to list, everybody will see a private answer with all the damages.. Recently a red warning has been added, but IMP is not following the use we can see with most MUA. So please change the reply button in reply to all since it's acting like this.
