(The basic Abhijit> plan was considerably cheaper, but I wasn't interested in Abhijit> that, so I didn't ask for details.) The prices look too high to me, specially when I compare them with my cable-wallah. Apart from the fact that I have to go through a NAT-ed box, I get: 56Kbps+ bandwidth 24-hour connectivity 1GB of transfer per month for Rs 1100 per month. Additional data transfer is @ Rs. 900 per GB, pro-rateable. I don't think I've exceeded that yet, or maybe I have and the operator hasn't noticed ;-) The installation charges were Rs 2000 (2500 if you didn't have an Ethernet card). I doubt if MTNL is going to get too many subscribers for this service at this price in the metros -- the cable operators are too ubiquitous. Hopefully that'll drive down the prices: remember what MTNL did to their dial-up service? From Rs 6000 p.a. (unlimited access) to free apart from the cost of a local call now. BTW, one question: what are your reasons for preferring MTNL over the cable-wallah? Abhijit> Do any list members live in East Delhi (near Vivek and Abhijit> Anand Vihar)? If you are interested in subscribing to the Abhijit> DSL service, could you please call up the MTNL helpdesk Abhijit> and tell them so? (Please drop me a note as well.) Try the Linux-Delhi mailing list, it seems to be have ONLY people from East Delhi in it sometimes ;) Forwarding there IAC.
