Hello Everyone, We had quite a wonderful meet today, thanks to the great organising skills of Arshad Siddiqui and his friends at Jamia Hamdard. The meet started around 2:30 pm ( not too late, compared to some of the other meets ). Since both Gagan and LinuxLingam did not turn up, the pre-decided agenda of talks on LWP/Threads/Clones and Projects by Linux Delhi could not be met with. Instead, Raj offered to give a presentation, and even gave us a long list to choose from.
Since most of the attendees were first timers, it was decided almost unanimously that Raj speak about Free Software and its significance in today's scenario. The meet started with the regular feature of introductions, and then Raj took over the stage and gave a wonderful presentation on Free Software. He covered almost all aspects of Free Software philosophy and ideology. He even explained the various licenses in detail and gave a nice comparison of the various models. By the way, Raj's presentations are GPL'ed, so if anyone wants them, simply mail him, and ask for them. But remember to be *very* polite. He may not be in a very good mood ;) The presentation was followed by a Tea break, courtesy Arshad and his team. Supreet Sethi then gave a nice talk on Electronic Mail. Yes, the same thing that we use to communicate via this mailing list. He explained the technology behind email, and how email goes from your machine to the other person. A very informative and educating talk. I'm sure all those who attended it will agree with me there :) Thats about it for the formal part. The scene then shifted to the Jamia Hamdard Canteen, where we all had samosas and cold drinks. Some of the things being discussed at the meet were : 1. possibility of organising a symposium, with multiple tracks, like Clustering, Linux at the Desktop, Linux in the Enterprise etc. Basically technical stuff. Contact Supreet (supreet at linux-delhi dot org) for details. 2. A complete over-haul of the Linux-Delhi website. Interested people with interesting ideas on a new look/feel for the site, contact Vipul (vipul at linux-delhi dot org) 3. T-shirts -- Shehjad had taken responsibilty for this. Find him. Thats about all. Suggestions and Feedback about the meet welcome. regards, Gami ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
