i think it should be possible. what this software does is, it installs a "client ( read access) software" on your pc, and opens a port to gotomypc.com. thus, when u login with a username and password on gotomypc.com, u can access your pc, because it is already connected to their server. thus, theoritically, it should work behind most firewall(since an outgoing connection is initiated).
it should be possible under any os, but i am not aware of any other software in linux which achieves this. gaurav -----Original Message----- From: vivek [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2003 1:08 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ilugd]: remote access to a pc hi while surfing i came across an advertisement of gotomypc.com[1] which allows you to remotely access your pc from outside. something like this was earlier possible with linux tools such as vnc and windows tools such as norton pcanywhere. but when i went to their case studies[2] section, it said that it can work through the firewall too, i.e., the machine need not have a public ip address and yu can access your intranet machines. now pcanywhere can't do that (it needs direct connection), so does vnc (??). is it possible under linux? i.e.,if i have 3 machines at my home, one of which has a public ip, and others access the net through that, and i wish to graphically (like vnc, not thru command line) access my 2nd or 3rd machine, is it possible?
