This is in continuation to my earlier mail in connection with the above.
As we know that if we already have Windows installed as our primary OS on the first partition of the hard disk, it is possible that the remaining hard disk space (that we want to use for Linux root) is above 1024 cylinder limit. In this case, if we have some space under the limit, we can make a boot partition there.
My question is that while installing Linux can we make a boot partition (mount point /boot) of say 10 MB under the 1024-cylinder limit. If, so, please guide.
The boot partition stores the image that LILO needs to boot into the OS. Making the boot partition within the 1024 cylinder limit will ensure that the BIOS interrupt enables LILO to read the boot image.
