The question here, as has been raised before, is how does one define "promote"? According to Webster's dictionary, Promote means: To contribute to the growth, enlargement, or prosperity of (any process or thing that is in course); to forward; to further; to encourage; to advance; to excite; as, to promote learning; to promote disorder; to promote a business venture. ``Born to promote all truth.'' --Milton. Though, i feel that when it comes to a group of individuals like linux-delhi, the term promote takes on an all new meaning, and we need to define this new meaning (and maybe even get the Webster's database updated). Does promote mean to provide a platform wherein people from certain organisations can come and "sell" their services or products(read proprietory) ? or does it mean to provide a place where representatives of such organisations are present to provide information to interested people? To have discussions about certain proprietory software, to find flaws in it, to suggest alternatives to it, to encourage people to develop open source versions of the same is what i gathered in the August meet when the freedom++ thing was decided upon. I did not imagine it to be a marketplace for people to take turns in selling their products. Is that what people want linux-delhi to be ??? I guess only a poll can decide that. > but let's stop cribbing and start figuring out how to create the wealth of > free software in all categories that are our personal itches, if you know > what i mean. Lingam, do i hear you volunteering to manage FLOSS projects taken on by people under the aegis of linux-delhi ? regards, Gami ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
