yes, i know that. have done so with knoppix and grinned at the naked level of 
access. but, you see, raj, gnulinux does not talk about 'pall eh dee dum' and 
all that stuff. it talks about flaws nakedly and transparantly. and you can 
atleast go as high as you wish with your security setttings. build a fort 
knoppix if you will.

agreed. at one time, i used to think, the only secure system is a system 
isolated, locked up in a basement, with no windows, double steel doors, a 
radiation, emi shield, and no link whatsoever with the outside, and using its 
own power source, such as a battery or a generator. with only a single-person 
access, multiple security checks through combinations of physical locks, 
obscure locations, biometric filters, and only *one* person knows the 
physical location of the machine: the end user.

but, i am no longer sure even this is secure in today's distrustful world, 
any longer.....
