The method outlines by Abu is nice. I'll suggest here wot i do n it works
for me :)
i make use of win2K bootloader instead of grub.
. Install win98
. install win2K
. now u'd have a box with dual booting into 98 and 2K (if u can't reach this
stage, get back to me offline)
. install linux on a separate parition, while installing
    . make a separate >10 MB partition for /boot
. make the rest of the paritions as u want, but take care to note down
the /hdaXX number for the /boot partition
. when Linux asks u to install bootloader, install it on the first
sector of the /hdaXX (the /boot partition), DONOT install it on the MBR
. compulsarily create a boot disk.
. finish linux installation
. boot thru floppy, u'd get into linux
. login as root.
. on a command window type "dd if=/dev/hdaXX of=bootsect.lnx count=1
bs=512", this would create a file called bootsect.lnx in ur working
directory
. copy this to ur floppy, using either the GUI or type "cp bootsect.lnx
/mnt/floppy", (if ur floppy isn;t mounted automatically, get back to me
offline)
. reboot the box from teh hard disk, NOT the floppy
. get into 98, copy bootsect.lnx from ur floppy to C:
. open C:\boot.ini in notepad
. make an entry ' C:\bootsect.lnx = "linoox" '
. save the file (make sure its saved, its read only in NT, hidden in win2K)
. reboot the box, when u get the options, choose 'linoox' and "ideally" it
should boot into linux.

if u have any doubt or the method doesn't work, send me a personal email. if
u r in or around delhi, u can call me at 26817341, x2904 netime

Subject: [ilugd]: PROBLEM REG. MULTIBOOT SYS. (LINUX, WIN98 & WIN2K)

:
: Dear Abu,
:
: As per your guidance provided in the your document regarding above, first
of all I installed win98 and then win2k and finally linux. After
installation of linux neither linux would boot nor win2k. Then I would log
in as root user and issue the command grub-install /dev/hda. AFter this I
would get the grub screen from where I can boot win98 and linxu and not
win2k. Then in order to handle in problem, I would again have to reinstall
win2k. And now all will work fine. But tell me how I can handle the problem
of avoiding reinstallation of win2k. Should I edit the boot.ini file, if so,
please let me iknow as I have no idea about this.
:
: Would you need more clarifications, please write.
:
: Best Regards,
