Hi Atul,

That was a well organised summary of all the activities that a LUG/FLOSS
Promoter can hope to get into. But getting to reality, you havent
mentioned how you aim to generate funding for all the ideas that you've
put across. Also, do we have enough manpower to carry out all the tasks ?
As far as i know, most of the people on ILUG-D are working professionals
who use the list for recreational/technological/social/commercial purposes
and most of them do not have time to spare for voluntary activities (and
that includes me too).

One aspect of the plan that you mentioned was going to schools and
educating them (quoted above). Linux Access Project was started by Linux
Delhi in collaboration with Sarai, with the hope of taking linux to
schools, and carrying on the activities that you also have thought of. It
seemed like a wonderful idea, and many people lauded us on taking on such
a noble initiative. But as it turned out, apart from 8-10 people, nobody
was interested to contribute and make the plan work.

Some of the problems that this LAP team faced were :
1. Funding
2. Lack of support (technical) that could be given to schools
3. Lack of initiative by members of the LUG. we needed more people to go
around and talk to schools etc.

Despite this, there have been untiring efforts by Leo, Supreet, Tripta,
Raj and others in trying to reach our goals.

If you have some novel ideas on how to tackle these problems, or have some
source of heavy funding then im sure lots of things can be worked out and
make possible.

hoping to hear from you on this.

regards,
Gami
