Hi Folks, I tried to install RHL 8.0 on the following configuration. The system hangs while anaconda detects hardware (possibly monitor) . So I tried `linux text noprobe skipddc' and it loads without a problem. The CDs tested okay, install went smoothly and I chose GRUB as the bootloader.
Problem #1: But after the install when I choose RHL it throws `Error 28: Selected item can not fit into memory' at me. I tried removing the argument `hdd=ide-scsi' but got the same results. The grub manual lists the error but no solution. Does it have something to do with the large disk? What should be my next course of action? What parameters/arguments do I pass? May be some setting in BIOS? Win2k identifies, installs and boots flawlessly, even when called by GRUB. Problem #2: I selected the partitions to be formatted as ext3fs but the booting error mentions that it's trying to boot from ext2fs. Strange. I tried Debian Potato and RHL 7.1, RHL 6.2 also and they do boot with LILO. Have not tried RHL 8.0 with LILO. Software: Redhat Linux 8.0 (kindly provided by Sandeep Bhattacharya) Hardware: Athlon XP 2000 ASUS mainboard on-board nVidia GeForce MX 2 Samsung Samtron 55V 256 MB DDR RAM 80GB HDD - Primary Master) 20 GB (Primary Slave) Any and all help is appreciated. -- Manish ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
