i have just read your mail,its very interesting.
As per your mail its definate that hard disk space has to be enough to save the data.But its not the only thing which matters for the speed.Its depends upon RAM,Processor-speed etc.
If you are having problem with hard disk space,we can use this.
1)disk defragmenter
2)disk cleanup
and if doesn't allow to improve the conditions
you should take back-up of your hard disk.
