Dear Sir, You should consider using PgSQL/MySQL. Here is a little comparison amongst some of the databases available in the market/on the web (from www.dbexperts.net)
| PostgreSQL | Oracle | MS SQL | MySQL | Firebird | Interbase| Open Source | Y | | | Y | Y | | Platforms ------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Linux | Y | Y | | Y | Y | Y | FreeBSD | Y | | | Y | | | Windows | Y * | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Sun Solaris | Y | Y | | | | | Mac OS X | Y | | | | | | IBM AIX | Y | Y | | | | | Unix UX | Y | Y | | | | | Features ------------------------------------------------------------- --------- ACID | Y | Y | | | | | Stored Procedures / Triggers | Y | Y | Y | | Y | Y | Concurrent Transactions | Y | Y | | | | | SQL ANSI 99 | Y | | | | | | SQL ANSI 92 | Y | Y | Y | | Y | Y | Unlimited number of users | Y | | | Y | Y | | Referential Integrity | Y | Y | Y | | Y | Y | Transactions | Y | Y | Y | | Y | Y | ODBC Free | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Easy Programming | | | | Y | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * You must be wondering how to get PgSQL for win... Get it form http://www.dbexperts.net/ (not free for win). Oracle is free download for Linux. PostgreSQL (or pgsql) comes free with Linux. MySQL is available as part of PHP Triad (almost all OSs). MS SQL comes with lots of additional features : crashes, heavy hardware and maintenance requirements, high cost + bugs and security problems :-) -- Best regards, Arjun [EMAIL PROTECTED] Saturday, February 1, 2003, 4:07:19 PM, you wrote: goc> HI, goc> IS THERE ANYBODY WHO IS HAVING THE SUBJECT CDs AND CAN SUPPLY THE SAME TO ME.
