question: what does a red hat exec do when he sees a one year old redhat
linux cd?

answer: he stomps all over it, then happily sings (in the tune of pink
panther)
dead ant, dead ant, dead ant dead ant dead ant,
dead ant.

er.. or is that
red hat, red hat, red hat red hat red hat,
red hat

more officially, red hat has quietly announced end-of-life in terms of
support for red hat versions 12 months old.

http://212.100.234.54/content/4/29053.html

interestingly, the register, that ran this story, switched from redhat 6.2 to
debian.

(so did i, very very recently)

wonder what the official redhat stance in india is, should some company sign
up for commercial support. do note that redhat software can still be
supported neverthless by the user groups andspecialized third party
comapanies.

bottomline: redhat8.0 reaches end-of-life by end of 2003, officially.
