Red Hat 7.1 ? Isnt it time you upgraded ? > Kernel 2.4.2-2 on i686 I can't recall where I saw it but I seem to remember a website that said that the minimum recommended 2.4 kenrnel is 2.4.6, IIRC. I recommend you upgrade to the latest stable kernel version from RedHat. http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.4/patch-2.4.20.gz > (PII 350 Mhz), squid version > 2.3.stable4. PLEASE upgrade your squid version - 2.5STABLE1 is the stable and recommended version. It's been a long time since I had to use RedHat (thank god) but http://speakeasy.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=squid&submit=Search+...&system=redhat&arch= should give you some kind of idea where to start. It's got 2.4STABLE6. I'd advise you to go all the way up to 2.5STABLE1 as http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.5/squid-2.5.STABLE1-RELEASENOTES.html shows numerous performance improvements and fixes.
