Hi,

Seems you loaded Red Hat Linux 8.0, then MP3s are disabled, 
but it is very simple to supply MP3 support.

Goto, http://www.xmms.org and get the xmms-mpg rpm present.

Just install the file by issuing the command rpm -i filename.rpm,

where filename is the name of the file on any linux terminal.

Needless to say, the rpm file should be in the directly where you 
are issuing the command ;-)
