Hi folks! Sub: Bureaucracy's words turning to action? I have read the reports in newspapers about how Indian government is adopting GNU/Linux in a big way and how colleges have introduced GNU/Linux in their syllabus. However have this translated into actions?
Does anyone on this list know of government offices which have migrated to GNU/Linux or adopted free software? Or any colleges which have recenntly shifted to GNU/Linux (except IITs) ? Most college labs (at least in D.U) run on Win NT. D.U. is planning to build a network connecting the various colleges. If there are any consultants on this list, they should lobby the D.U. vice chancellor or the executive committee for looking into free software as an option to Win stuff for their networking needs. I read this news some days back in The Hindu newspaper, if anyone of you can locate the link for this article in the Hindu's website please mail it on this list. May the Great Gnu have mercy on your soul! Regards Raj Shekhar ===== Give credit where credit is due. Linux is just the kernel. Without the efforts of people involved with the GNU project the Linux kernel would not be very useful to most people.See http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html to know more ________________________________________________________________________ Missed your favourite TV serial last night?
