Hi List,
I have installed mandrake 8.2 on my machine and xinetd
service is running fine. In the xinetd.d there was no
telnet file but a file called telnet.rpmnew. I myself
copied it under the name telnet and disable was = no
in that file. Somehow I am not able to telnet on the
linux box as whenever I try to telnet it gives the
error :--

Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

However I am able to ftp onto the server

When I give chkconfig --list command it gives the
following output.

---------
-------
xinetd based services
       chargen-udp : off
       ---------
       ---------
       telnet : on

However when I give the command /usr/sbin/telnet it
gives the error:--

getpeername: socket operation on non-socket
