Hi Folks, Happy New Year to all ... I hope u wish the same to me after you've finished reading this mail. (if not run around Delhi looking for me to kick my butt real hard and tell me to remain quite in the future)
Well the idea is ... why don't all of us Linux users build a grid like network of our boxes running Linux and collaborate in the most ultimate manner. Yeah ... it's 2 AM in the morning and even as I write this mail ... it sounds too StartTrekkish to me too. But come to think of it ... a grid of Linux boxes running around Delhi !!! Well ... there are hurdles ... people might never agree to let their PCs to be shared like this ... and ofcourse ... the non-availability of cheap "always on" network backbone ... and of-course the ever famous power situation in this National Capital of ours. But ... if it is somehow possible ... then I believe this will be the best possible way to colloborate and carry on forward the advancement of Computer Science using Linux. This is the way we can avoid the walls that stand in the way. And indications are pretty strong that some smart people might just be begining to build the walls ... like for eg ... Almost all the GIANTS like Sun, IBM, HP have their own versions of UNIX ... (HP now have the DEC dragon called the VMS) ... but almost all of them are trying to grab onto the new opportunity they call Linux ... where were they when the real code-crackers across the world were trying to make it work ... and now they are all up and willing to have piece of the "cake" ... we've all heard of the "United Linux" and the names involved therein. ... I guess we all understand why ... and I think the consequnces are obvious. Whatever it might be, if at all this idea strikes any notes ... then plz ... lets give it a try. Gags. -- And then Ken said, let their be UNIX ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
