Actually, as i have written in the mail that if we dial from a simple analogue line , then the modems do connect and data can be transferred.
Here is some more information about my setup.
At the dialing end in Delhi, i have an ISDN line connected to a TA(Terminal Adapter) which is connected to a linux box.
At the other end in Gurgaon, there is a cisco2610 router which is to be configured for dialin and is connected to an ISDN BRI line.
Im dialing from delhi with the help of minicom. I just have to send a string to TA to dial from isdn line (ie ATDI number). If i send a string( ie ATDA or ATDB), then it uses only one channel of isdn and the call is made like a simple analog call.
Now when im dialling atdi 3340380(vsnl isdn no), it gets connected through isdn line.(That means that the configuration and line at the delhi's end is allright).
If i dial the isdn number of my isdn line at gurgaon (ie ATDI 95124gurgaon isdn no), then NO CARRIER message is received at the minicom. Even if i dial another isdn number (HCL infinet) in Gurgaon, it gives the same message.
Whereas if i send a string (ATDA '95124 hcl isdn no in gurgaon'), then it connects (ie using a simple analogue call).
The whole situation suggests that isdn calls can be made from delhi to delhi whereas cannot be made from delhi to gurgaon whereas the analogue calls can be made to gurgaon from delhi without any difficulty and that gets connected for data transfer.
A senior technical person of a respectable isp has suggested that there might be some problem in the interstate isdn data transfer . I tried to contact MTNL on their isdn helpline number 178, but it never connects.
Thats why i am asking if anyone had that kind of problem before.
Thanks

Atul,
I seriously doubt if there would be problems with isdn lines across
states. Have you configured the computers so that they can connect using a
normal modem first? I mean use normal external modems in place of your isdn
modems and then use them to connect the 2 computers to each other. If this
succeds then check the isdn modems.

Im trying to configure an isdn dialout from delhi to gurgaon. In delhi,
i have an isdn line and one isdn line in gurgaon.
Im trying to connect both of these . I m using minicom for that on
Linux. Everytime i dial from delhi to gurgaon's line, i get a NO CARRIER
message straightaway ,allthough the isdn lines get connected if dialled
from an ordinary analogue telephone line, whereas when i dial out to
vsnl isdn line at delhi , it gets connected ( allthough it gives NO
CARRIER after some time due to authrization failure).
Does somebody has any experience of configuring isdn connectivity
between two states. Actually a technical person suggested to me that
there might be some problem in interstate isdn data calls. If somebody
knows something about this , the information will be very helpfull.
