Let us see, your last mail to the list was this: ----------------------- Hi, Can anyone on the list help me to get my virtual sites to run on my intranet ? I am having some configuration problems with .conf Prithu ----------------------- The reason why Linux keeps getting a bad name is because people think that they can keep getting help for "free" while they get to keep the moronic attitude that plagues all Windoze users. They don't even bother to understand how the Linux world works, sometimes even after 4-5 years of being in a list. Nothing in this world is for free, the Linux world being no exception. If you expect the so-called Linux "specialists" to give you unqualified help, you are mistaken. 1. All they ask from you is that when you make a request you atleast show that you have yourself made an effort to solve the problem yourself. Along with the problem tell us what you have tried, what error messages you have found, what is your configuration etc. 2. Even if you have done everything in (1), it can always be true that no one in the list knows how to help you out. They are not going to all mail their condolences to the list. You would simply not get any reply. 3. Even if there are people who can help you, they may be too busy to help you right now, or have not been checking mails for a few days. With the volume of mails that one gets from lists like this, when one comes back after a few days, he most probably simply deletes his past mail and concentrates on the ones he receives on that day. So repost your problem _once_ after a few days. 4. Politeness dictates that with any volunteer based service, if you do get help, thank the people. If you dont, accept the fact. Bad mouthing social services like this is in pathetic bad taste. Mr. Suman Mukherjee, here made a real good effort to explain his problem. Because of this he has a really good _chance_ of getting his problem addressed by somebody over here. Remember it is a good chance. If he doesn't, he should accept it. Remember again, this is a volunteer effort. If you want prompt support everytime, consider getting commercial help. It is not neccessarily costly. Many of us folks at Linux Delhi do realise that there is a genuine need for people to get responsible support at a price. The problem with such customers is getting in touch with the right people at the right time. Some of us are working on that problem, and we hope we can give you the answer in the coming few months. Till then, please play along. Try and understand not only the technollogy that you are getting into, but also the culture. - Sandip -- -------------------------------------------------------- Sandip Bhattacharya sandipb <@> bigfoot.com http://www.sandipb.net GPG/PGP: 0x08EB637C -------------------------------------------------------- ================================================ To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header.
