First of all, I would like u to visit the site

http://www.distrowatch.com

where u can get a first hand comparison between various
distributions. I am a redhat user and I believe there
should not be much problem in switching from one distro
to another as they usually ship more or less the same
packages with different installation programs. I have
heard the installation program of Mandrake is the easiest.

As per my understanding Redhat has the largest customer base but
the market size varies from geo to geo. For example, Red Hat has
good customer base in US whereas SuSE is the leader in Europe and
Turbolinux is more popular in Asia (Japan i should say). I don't
have much idea about Mandrake but it is also very popular.
