Hello,

Nice response I must say.

First of all, I invite you to join the Linux mailing lists and see for yourself
the positive contribution that people are making in order to make the freedom
of choice happen for people - for all the people. Since you are not a member of
the lists, your mail would not go there and hence, for the benefit of the
list-members, I am forwarding this reply of mine to the lists.

I don't want to fight over this or argue, as the facts are not exactly what you
mention here.
LINUX is all about freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of existence. Whenw
e say freedom of existence, it means freedom of everyone.
The trouble with M$ is not the software but their notion and policies by which
they have been throttling everyone around.
They have killed (yes, killed is the right word) many initiatives so as to
create and then retain their monolopy.
Today, they have become master-bribers who are taking government orders by
heavy bribing alone.
Bill Gates has paid a grant of 21 Million US$ to M.P.Govt in order to scuttle
the SHIKSHA project which has already been decided to be on Linux as the cost
of ownership for the 10,000 computers for schools would be much lower if they
were to use Linux+OpenOffice instead of windows+office.
It is clear today that without the bribes M$ would not be able to get major
orders. Not only that, with thousands of developers sifting to Linux, they
would have problems in getting developers (their major developers are from
India).

Let us not forget that Computers did not start with windows and they will not
end with Linux.
Windows played its part and probably its time is over. Linux will play its part
and then things would surely go on developing further.
Life must go one evolving. When someone tries to stop the evolution, there is
violence. M$ has been and is trying to do that all the time. And, that is the
trouble.
Against the big number of people who want to shift to something other than
windows, who is M$ to stoo them ? Do your thoughts mean the M$ should be given
the monopoly over what people should use o the computers ? That, if it is so,
is really very violent and dangerous for the society.

There is a lot that can be argued, but I am not interested in doing that
because the argument from M$ side is never fair. They just want their monopoly
and they want it at any cost. That is what has given the biggst push to Linux
and Free-software movement. Probably, if M$ leaves others alone and tries to
improve its offerings, they will do better business and last for some extra
time.

Hitler could not survive, and so is the same about all those who tried to be
the monopolists in any field. They just had some time and vanished. The same is
the definite future of M$ and fortunately we all will see it happening.

Those who actually oppose, do so not because oftheir software as the first
point, but, rather their atempts (real violent attempts without any holds
barred) to kill the alternatives, and you must see this point properly before
taking sides with the voilent monopolists that M$ is always trying to be.

Linux is not about bashing M$, though that happens because M$ is all the time
working to throttle people's choice. Linux is about freedom, freedom of choice,
freedom of expression. Afterall your M$ talks always about free-market. What
don't they keep working for their market with fair means, Or, is it that the
free market means free for them and restrictions for others ?
