One very simple method to avoid these kind of problems is to put all new
subscribers as moderated subscribers. Only after they send a few messages
and show some netiquette could they be moved to unmoderated status. I have
seen this being done on a few email lists, and it is extremely effective in
keeping the list well behaved.
One of the things that I would like to see implemented is snipping of the
footers and other irrelevant portions.
