I think you changed the permission recursivery /usr. Surinder, This is linux email list not solaris.
Solution to your problem: You can reboot the system with cdrom/network. Using cdrom: Insert the Solaris software cdrom for sparc. 1> press stop + A 2> boot cdrom -s This will boot the system in single user mode with option to mount yout file system on mount point /a ex: mount /dev/dsck/c0t0d0s0 /a (check your target id or slice for /usr) Using network: 1> Make the boot server 2> run install script 3> on ok prompt ok> boot net -s Now you can do whatever you want with this partition.
