I guess .. gtk+ just wrocks .Its easy C style
programming ...(thats what I think).Great event
handling .Widgets available in gtk too are simple and
spares u some trouble encountered with Qt , but the
drawback is that its not really "Object Oriented".. U
just use gtk+ functions.. 
BOOKS .. checkout the documentation .. its packs
default with RedhatGTK ..
