Hi! ... guys
Thanks its no let down....we are all ensuring various aspect are safe guarded....but the case in point why i asked for Oracle on the list was,
cuz i am looking to develop app using and RDBMS...as the data base could really be large at time ....i will be developing/handeling GIS/LIS...and maybe, later Photogrammetric application....i want it to be forward /backward compatible......the other point being is to reduce the cost of development viz-a-viz the operating system cost, the Integrated development Environment (java,Qt+,OpenGL implementation for Open source....4getting the name....), RDBMS is one issue which will require a very careful thinking, with forward integration....this decision on which RDBMS to be used is the one to be finalised....
with that as a lil brief...i have to make a decision......should i go for MySQL / PostgressSQL or should i bet my money on Properiety Oracle?
and ofcourse i will take "some time" (read month(s)) to develop a major chunk / part of the application....but small modules are being required as the projects come.....so, later on integrating them should not be a problem (read compatability)..... i am aware as suggestion will come it will get more difficult to make a decision process.....so my request to all who send / give their suggestion is to give both the pros and cons in points, keeping in mind like u were to develop the applications......
i hope i have given the context of my previous request......
thanks to all in advance
Nitin
