I gather that you are in the vanguard of the movement in the northern region of India for introducing Linux in educational institutions. Let me introduce myself. I was one of the founding members of the Linux users group Kolkata. I graduated in Literature and am toiling my way through a PG course in Mass Communication from Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication, Pune. I have been trying to convince the authorities in my institution to setup a Linux server with Samba to serve the Win98 workstations and form a sort of a backend whereby I could first setup an intranet with a student notice board and logins through which I could regulate Net usage (once we get a 24x7x365 net access) and then move onto hosting the institution site on our servers. Obviously this is a tall order especially since I have been out of touch with Linux thingies for a year... So I would need a bit of help from you : 1. I need help from you to get in touch with the RedHat people for this 2. I need details of the success stories ( corporate and institutional) in India ( I need to make a white paper for the authorities) 3. I would also need details of what all has transpired in the Linux scenario in the western part of India as far as the eduational institutions are concerned. And to end it all I must apologise for having taken up so much of your time making you wade through such a long mail but if you are not the right person to conatact for this or there are people who would be more able in assisting me in my quest and for the information that I seek I would request you to please help me touch base with them.
