If you look at it, programming isn't such a regional activity as other
LUG activities.  E.g. there are very few cases when programmers (from
different projects/companies) actually need to meet to solve a common
problem, etc.  Maybe that's one reason there aren't any local
programming Special Interest Groups.

However, if enough people see a good reason to have a local
programming-related list (and associated activities) there's no reason
why we shouldn't start one.  We can do this through a poll, or we can
just start a list provisionally and see what sort of responses we get.

I agree, the overall quality of posts and responses in LIP is pretty
high quality.  Anyone seriously into Linux/Unix programming should
definitely consider subscribing to that, irrespective of whether we
have a local list or not.
