The following steps should do it:

(1)  Copy the .TTF files to /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType

(2)  As root do:

       # cd /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType
       # ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale
       # mkfontdir
       # chkfontpath --add /usr/share/fonts/default/TrueType

(3) You should be able to work with your TTFs now.
