Hi
If all you want to do is open and view the slides,
then I suggest you get your hands on the free
powerpoint viewer and run it in Linux using WINE
(http://www.winehq.com). WINE is an almost complete
implementation of Windows on top of Linux. One thing
though, the current version of the Powerpoint viewer
may require to save your files in the Powerpoint 97
format.
