When u roll out your own distro, u wud be taking care of things like packaging, compatiblity, installers, etc.. with lfs u r basically making a linux system for yourself w/o using a ready made distro.
Now comming to your idea of rolling out your own distro. If u r really serious, then i wud suggest that first u shud try and get some idea of what all u can do when u roll out a new distro. Try to first study the popular distros that are available.. slackware, gentoo, red hat, mandrake and debian wud be a good mix of distros that u can try out. Then u wud like to try to modify these distros to first include things like simple updates, etc.. and move on to more complex tasks as u get more idea abt linux distros. Also note that rolling out a new distro takes a lot of work and effort, so don't expect to come up with your own distro overnight. Bye, /\ |\/| |3 /\ r PS: I still feel that there are enough linux distros to take care of 99% of your unique needs, provided u modify any of the distros a bit. For the last 1% u can always use lfs! ================================================ To subscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subscribe in subject header To unsubscribe, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe in subject header Archives are available at http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd%40wpaa.org =================================================
