You need to give the correct partition information. You have not provided
the full information on the partitions and moreover you have not given the
partitions of /usr , /var, /tmp and /home
To clarify :
hda is the 1st hard disk (IDE primary master)
hda1 would be the first partition on hda
hdb would be the second IDE hard disk
Read the manual or do a google search on partitions and the recommended
sizes

After formatting the partitions /boot and / , the system gives the message
'couldn't copy install image, probably you are out of disk space' please
help. My partition scheme is as follows:
/dev/hda Windows XP NTFS 6.4gb approx.
/dev/hdb /boot 15mb
/dev/hdb / 4.5gb or so
/dev/hdb7 swap 203mb (have 128 mb of ram)
