There is a solution though. One can use federated network like Diaspora, all one has to do is to log in to a pod (server), type his / her post, add a tag like #ilug or #chennaipython and hit send.
This will be sent to many other pods which has users listening to it. Though one can delete comments of others in his post, he can't stop one say posting message with tags say #chennairb The only way to stop some one dissenting is to request every other one to stop listening to that person, and the other one can do the same to the person who claims he is the leader of the group.
