Remember you WILL need a shared (block device and NOT NAS) storage
like ISCSI/SAN.

You will also require some working and tested fencing mechanism (IPMI
or Power fencing).

Mind you DRBD is a Block level replicaion and I have used it many times.
It works quite will and you may not need external storage

This cluster will help you switch (active/Passive) over file systems
such as ext4, databases (mysql, oracle etc), Apache, Virtual IP,
samba, ctdb etc. etc. At least I have deployed it for all of these.

For load balancing of course you will need a third box
