Hi All, Many of us are already familiar with Linux Mint project in form of their OS and can vouch for its ease of use. Not sure how many of you are aware of their foray into hardware. Linux Mint and Compulab have collaboratively created MintBox2 - a compact and powerful headless PC with Mint Mate natively installed.
http://www.fit-pc.com/web/products/mintbox/ http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2441 It is bit pricey (600$) but I still went ahead and bough this rig through my friend who returned from US recently. My impressions are so far are very impressive. It looks compact (just the size of a router), sturdy , lot of ports, and seems to absorb the heat well. I have it connected to TV temporarily as I am yet to procure a HD monitor. The set up went like a breeze, at last understood why Mint have an OEM ISO image. :-) I also had a look at Mac Mini which offers a similar configuration but in case of Mint Box, i feel that it is pretty much open in terms of upgradation / addition of hardware components such as SSD. Also, 5% of the revenue is shared with Mint team. If you're looking to replace an old beast in your home or planning for new desktop for your office, this may well fit your needs. -- Cheers, Anand Radhakrishnan When there is a drive, there is a path.
