Hi Arun,

I tried the stupid mode =1 too. Same result.

Took the modem all the way to the Sub Divisional
Engineer's office in Kelly's and the modem works
perfectly fine on Microsoft Windows when we tested
it there.

So I am ruling out a faulty modem. I am not sure if
Signal stength is the issue because I stay pretty close
(around 2 kms) by road from the Mugappair Exchange.

I have ordered for a BSNL Broadband landline connection
for now and planning to use the modem on my mother's
Laptop which runs Microsoft Windows till I figure out how
to get it to work on Ubuntu 13.04.

Thanks anyways for your inputs.
