@Girish,
I need some detail explanation about how rdiff-backup tool does incremental
backup.
because based on that only I can understand how to retrieve backup data, if
I lost any backup data in between.
In lost of backup data there are two chances,
- One is, backup is failure ( It should be handled by rdiff-backup
tool itself )
- Another one is, backup is success but I lost the backup data may
be because of some reasons ( file crash, etc., )
For Ex,
Feb 17 - backup - success
Feb 18 - backup - success but I lost this data on Feb 20,
Feb 19 - backup - success
Now I have doubt in this how to retrieve my Feb 17 data without any loss.
And how rdiff-backup will work in the above scenario.
I have done the above experimentation but I couldn't get the clear idea.
So kindly give me some detailed explanation or some guidance to search it
out.
Thanks in advance.
