Apologies for bumping an old thread. I was looking for a lightweight presentation maker and did a simple dpkg -l | grep presentation on Ubuntu Presice Beta. I was pleasantly surprised to find "Sozi". It is an extension to the popular Inkscape that can be used to create zooming presentations. The presentations will be traditional SVGs and viewable in any modern web browser. http://sozi.baierouge.fr/wiki/en:welcome I tried it and it works really well. On Ubuntu 12.04 beta, you can simply use apt-get sozi to install it.
