Dear David, >So just releasing the plugin in GPL would solve it rite? The > application codes can remain our company property?
Releasing a project in GPL requires the source code to be available in public without any restrictions for the four freedoms mentioned in the following link. http://www.gnu.org/licenses/quick-guide-gplv3.html Not releasing the source code will result in violation of the GPL, and it is called proprietary software. I hope, you will not like to restrict the source code which you got from the public and will share your modified code with the public. Please refer the wikipedia page on GPL for more details. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License -- Alagunambi Welkin Executive Committee Member, Free Software Foundation, Tamil Nadu, part of Free Software Movement of India. http://www.fsftn.org _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
