Hi all - We are excited to announce that tomorrow, Wednesday, November is the 7th birthday of Firefox! To celebrate, we are bringing back Firefox Live, the 24 hour live stream of baby red pandas (aka fireboxes) at the Knoxville Zoo in Kentucky. We are going to do press outreach in the US and our European markets (Germany, France, Italy, Poland, UK and Spain) when the announcement is live. If you have press contacts, feel free to send them the pitch when the news is live - otherwise this is just an FYI. Thanks! Shannon *Blog Post: * Celebrating 7 years of Firefox with the newest (and cutest) Mozillians! Today, we are excited to join together as a global community to celebrate the 7th birthday of Firefox. As the only independent browser with a mission to make the Web better, we are proud of how the last seven years of Firefox have pushed the Web forward: - The latest release of Firefox<http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2011/11/08/mozilla-firefox-adds-twitter-search-and-new-features-that-make-web-browsing-easier/> is more than 32 times faster than Firefox 1.0. - We recently shifted to a new release cycle<http://blog.lizardwrangler.com/2011/08/25/rapid-release-process/> to deliver features, performance enhancements, security updates and stability improvements to users faster. - Leading edge HTML5 support in Firefox ensures that developers can create beautiful and exciting Web experiences for users. - Favorite features like tabbed browsing, built-in phishing and malware protection, the Awesome Bar, Do Not Track and our gallery of thousands of Firefox add-ons give millions of users around the world more choice and control over their Web browsing experience. To celebrate, Mozilla has once again<http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2011/04/12/firefox-live-trekking-with-pandas-and-new-adventures-for-spark-and-ember/> adopted firefox (a.k.a red panda) cubs at the Knoxville Zoo. For the next few months, you can watch these baby firefoxes play, live and grow via a 24 hour live video stream at Firefox Live <http://www.mozilla.org/firefoxlive>. Please help spread the word by sharing the cuteness of our newest Mozillians at Firefox Live <http://www.mozilla.org/firefoxlive>. *Pitch: * Happy Birthday, Firefox! Firefox, the only independent browser, has come a long way since Mozilla released Firefox 1.0 seven years ago. Earlier this week, we proudly released Firefox 8, the latest update to the Firefox browser. Firefox continues to drive and advance the Web with the key Mozilla values of openness, transparency and interoperability. In honor of Firefox's seventh birthday today, Mozilla has announced the adoption of three new red pandas from Knoxville Zoo. Mozilla would like to welcome Burnadette, Dolly and Winston to the Firefox family! Mozilla is officially re-open its Firefox Live project for constant cub-watching starting today. This time, however, Firefox Live will include ways for users to engage with the cubs and share all the things they love about Burnadette, Dolly and Winston with their friends. I invite you to take a moment and visit our cubs! http://www.mozilla.org/firefoxlive Thanks, Arun Prakash ReMo / Mozilla -- _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
