Please note that if you use fedora >= 7 , each storage device is treated as /dev/sda as opposed to /dev/hda for IDE as it used to be and still is in some deb. So the number may vary. So I would strongly suggest that in another open and visible command windows the fruend runs : tail -f /var/log/messages That will immediately tell when the pen drive is plugged in and when it is removed and most important of it all: the device name /dev/xxx HTH Regards, Rajagopal PS: Note to Channel police (with -- armpits smelling of cheap country liquoer et. al. etc. as mentioned by one earlier poster -- ) Please ignore my typos hence forth.
